LOCAL CAVE AND MINE LEADER ASSESSMENT (LCMLA) & CAVE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE (CIC)

The Local Cave Mine Leader Assessment (LCMLA) is an accreditation scheme for those leading groups in UK caves and abandoned mines. The LCMLA scheme is nationally administered by the British Caving Association. Cave and/or Mine Leader (previously Level 1) is appropriate for leaders working in horizontal cave/mine systems and Vertical Leader (previously Level 2) for those who lead groups in caves and mines with vertical pitches. Click here for more information about the LCMLA scheme on the BCA website.

The Cave Instructor Certificate (CIC) is the highest instructing award in caving and is designed for those involved in teaching caving skills and leading guided parties in the full range of UK caves and potholes. Click here for more information about the CIC scheme on the BCA website.

Assessments for all BCA Awards are organised by arrangement.
